Skiing in Grandvalira
Grandvalira is one of the largest skiing areas in Europe, combining no fewer than seven individual 'sectors' into one resort. The resort of Grandvalira was first established in 2003 when two of the oldest ski areas in the Pyrenees combined to create one larger ski destination, which more than rivals some of the better known resorts elsewhere in Europe. The huge ski area, huge investment and forward thinking nature of Andorra has really put this place on the map as a premier choice for your school ski trip.
Andorra's unique position and status means that many languages are spoken here with English being one of them. This is a huge advantage for school groups as many of the instructors are either native Brits, or speak an exceptionally high level of English. The same can be said of most people you will encounter in Andorra, whether that's at the hotel, at the ski hire or the restaurants. You'll also find a friendly welcome to this unique part of Europe.
Grandvalira, and Andorra as a whole, benefits from an exceptionally good snow record. That said, it's always good to have a Plan B, and the extensive snow making facilities that cover the majority of the slopes ensure that you'll be skiing, no matter what time of year you travel. The progression here is brilliant for beginners and intermediates, meaning students can make huge strides in a short space of time. For the more advanced skiers, there is more than enough to keep them occupied and challenged with a superb range of difficult blacks and challenging reds. But as you would expect for a resort with over 210km of piste - there's something for everyone!
